Precisions 380 are the first which offers Dual Core processor technology (two processors on a single chip) for intensive tasks.
Besides Dual Core there are also verity of traditional processors which DeLL offers on additional cost.Either you can opt for Extreme edition 3.73 GHz Pentium 4 with 2MB of L2 cache and front side bus of 1066MHz or you can opt for Extreme Edition of Dual Core 3.2GHz Pentium 4 ,but each of which will double your baseline cost i.e approximately it will cost you $1350.

To double the memory capabilites you have to pay additional $140 and to further enhance it up 50 2GB you have to pay $360 and to go to the maximum 4GB you have to pay $900.But instead of 533MHz memory line if you opt for more faster like 667MHz you have to pay $170 over baseline price.
You have the choice of the 380 computer shipping in either a tower or a desktop configuration of the silver and black chassis, depending on whether you want the drives mounted vertically or horizontally. Either way, the Dell chassis is rack mountable and features two front USB 2.0 ports for easy connection of peripherals.
In regards to storage, there's only a 40GB 7,200rpm hard drive, but the Dell 380 desktop supports a variety of configurations with Serial ATA RAID levels 0, 1, 5, and 10. You can connect up to four hard drives in formation for the ultimate in performance and fault tolerance.
If you need more than the basic 48X CD-ROM drive in your 380, you can upgrade to a 48X/32X/48X CD-RW drive for $49. To burn to DVD, the 16X DVD+/-RW drive is $119. A combination of two of these drives is available if you need to burn directly from disk to disk.
Adding three more 40GB drives will run you an additional $327 and your other options increase from there. The computer's maximum option of four 300GB 15,000rpm SCSI drives in formation will give you an incredible 1.2 terabytes of high-speed storage, but it'll increase the price by over three grand.

There's no floppy drive included on the computer, but you can add one on for a reasonable $9. There's a gigabit Ethernet port built-in, so you can connect the desktop to your company's high-speed network easily.
The 380 computer ships with Dell's excellent OpenManage software, letting system administrators update software across the network, handle after-hours maintenance, and be alerted remotely to any changes to a desktop. Dell also offers three years of coverage, which includes 24/7 phone availability for tech support.
Audio is integrated, although you can upgrade to a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 card for $79, activating a Firewire port on the front of the Dell computer. You can also choose a less-expensive Firewire controller card for $29 if you need this connectivity for your peripherals. If you stick with the integrated sound, you can add an internal speaker for $5 or an external two-speaker set for $29.
There's no office software bundled with the 380 desktop, but you can add Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 for $125, the Small Business Edition for $255, or the Professional version for $325. All of these bundles also include Adobe Acrobat 6.0.
